Tyler:

Once again, thank you for arranging and leading this wonderful annual trip. It seems that fabulous birds like the Tundra Swan and the Bald Eagle are plentiful at this site during February.

As promised I am enclosing some photos I took on the trip including the shot of a pair of Greater Scaups that were mixed in with the many Lesser Scaups and Ring-necked Ducks at Colonial Beach. Also included are some shots of a Bald Eagle and a pair of Tundra Swans. The Greater Scaup was a life bird for me and perhaps for a few others on the trip.

For the more adventurous, I have attached a link to a pdf file on my website that records a pair of Tundra Swans coming in to land on the Potomac directly in front of the Monument visitor center. You can use the mouse left click or the right arrow of the keyboard to advance the photos and exit by X ing out.

Over 13 birders came to the annual Richmond Audubon Society February trip to George Washington's Birthplace National Monument and many continued on to the town of Colonial Beach. Both locations are in Westmoreland County.

Highlights were hearing the Tundra Swans and many Bald Eagle sightings at the park.Scaup and Ruddy Ducks were in abundance in Colonial Beach. A few Scoter were offshore in both locations. I saw a flock of Wild Turkey just a few hundred feet east of the grounds of the old school on Route 3 near the turnoff for Colonial Beach. tHE Common Goldeneye was a life list bird for several participants.
