[va-richmond-general] Hermit Thrush

I have had a Hermit Thrush coming to by deck all winter, and I have been
wondering what on earth he was eating. I throw dry dog food out for the blue
jays, and this morning I saw the Hermit Thrush pick up a kibble and swallow
it whole. So now I know.
I have two Baltimore Orioles coming to John Coe's magic peanut butter recipe.
Yesterday as an experiment I put out on my window feeder in two jar lids
some of the mixture, and some peanut butter mixed with cornmeal. The peanut
butter magic mixture won hands (beaks?) down over the peanut butter mixed
with cornmeal. The birds ate all of the magic mixture before the pb/meal
combo was hardly touched. The Carolina Wrens kept picking at the jar lid
where the magic mixture had been, ignoring the jar lid which was practically
full of the cornmeal mixture right beside it.
This morning I made a double batch of the magic mixture.
