Dear All, I noticed several recent posts on VA-BIRD that mentioned birds seen around Bull's Pond off of Route 600 in Northampton County and just north of the Eastern Shore of Virginia N.W.R. I have made special arrangements for access here for the Cape Charles Christmas count and access was also arranged for the Eastern Shore Birding & Wildlife Festival back in October. However, one cannot just drive in there on the spur of the moment. Steve Parker requested that I post the information below. Please abide by it. In addition some local landowners are very sensitive (to say the least, and sometimes hostile or just plain scary) about unauthorized tresspassing in the area. I am sorry to break this news but it needs to be said.-Harry Armistead, 523 E. Durham

"The Nature Conservancy purchased the Bull Pond tract in Northampton County last spring as part of the Virginia Coast Reserve's migratory land bird conservation efforts on the Southern Tip of the Eastern Shore."
"IT IS NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC AT THIS TIME."
"TNC intends to transfer the tract to the public sector in the future, and is collaborating with researchers, appropriate agencies and organizations, and private landowners to assess the avian resources and evaluate appropriate future access policies for the site." - Steve Parker, Director of The Nature Conservancy's Virginia Coast Reserve.
