[va-bird] White-winged Dove; Eared Grebe; but NOT Ash-throated Flycatcher

Robert Hindle and I found a White-winged Dove - possibly a different bird to
that which has been hanging around Ned Brinkley's place? - while we were
making an unsuccessful search for the Ash-throated Flycatcher on Thursday,
December 1. We also failed to find the flycatcher on Saturday, December 3.

The White-winged Dove was perched on top of a deciduous tree immediately
north of Dixon, Road, along Seaside Street (this is not far from the ESNWR),
seen at about 4 pm. The wing pattern was confirmed when it flew down to a
nearby
telephone wire. This bird had NO TAIL at all. This fact, and the distance
from Cape Charles, might indicate a different bird.

On Friday morning, we had an Eared Grebe on the middle impoundment at Craney
Island. There was a note in the Craney Island log that Val Kitchens' party
had seen two of them there on the previous day.
