[va-bird] Richardson's Goose, Harrison Road, Fauquier 1 December

Hola,
Yesterday afternoon (1 December), there was a Cackling (Richardson's) Goose
on the pond at Harrison Road. When I saw the bird it was on the water with
several hundred Canada Geese. This year the landowner has grown taller
vegetation in the field, and the geese don't congregate here like they have in
years past as a result (indeed, the intent). Historically the large goose
flock
can be found at Harrison Road (750), Belvoir Road (709), as well as on fields
and an inaccessible pond in that area, and on a private farm along Blantyre
Road (628), which isn't a long flight from Harrison. This year I don't know
where they're hanging out. Harrison has been hit or miss for me, and the
farm on Blantyre had nearly zero geese yesterday.
Unlike in previous years were a couple visits to Harrison would usually
result in finding the Greater White-fronted Goose, I think this year is going
to
be more difficult, and if the Cackling Goose sticks around, it might be tricky
to find. I do think a Greater White-fronted Goose is around, but I haven't
been able to see it on the ground.
Cheers,
Todd
