Here are the results of a waterfowl survey at Back Bay NWR on Dec. 6.

The dikes along the impoundments are closed in the winter to prevent 
disturbance to the waterfowl. Guided tram tours are available 
occasionally. The next one will run on December 19th from 9 a.m. to 11 
a.m. There is no charge for this special holiday season tram tour, but you 
must call the Back Bay Restoration Foundation for reservations 
(757-721-7666). Because the tram has a limited capacity, group 
reservations are limited to four people. Phone ASAP if you would like to 
ride the tram. I hear that it is already halfway filled!
