Greetings,

In a little over two weeks, we'll be holding The Plains/Airlie CBC, on 19
December. The count circle is almost entirely in Fauquier County, with a
small
sliver of Prince William. It runs from about The Plains in the north, to
just south of Warrenton; from Lake Manassas in the east, to Wildcat Mountain
and Carter's Run in the west.

Some of the areas we cover are Airlie, Lake Manassas, Lake Brittle, Wildcat
Mountain, Bull Run Mountain, North Fork Wetlands, Clifton Farm, Harrison Road,
Great Meadow, and the Fauquier County Landfill. We typically get about 100
species on the count, often with good counts of waterfowl, raptors,
sparrows, and woodpeckers. We rank in the top few in Virginia for numbers of
many
species, and even a couple top tens nationally. It's a fun count, and we
throw
a fine chili supper for the compilation at Airlie. All are invited to the
dinner (well, all those that count that is).

So, mark your calendars, and drop me a note letting me know that you'd like
to partake.

To the folks that have counted in the past, you'll be getting a note from me
in the next couple of days with a few more details.

Cheers,

Todd
