[va-bird] Ross's Geese

My husband and I were with friends at Broadkill, Delaware over
Thanksgiving. Each day that we were there, we went to the big ponds on
the road near the Nature Center at 9:30 A.M. and the Snow Geese would
fly in by the thousands. Watching them fly in for over an hour and
hearing that incredible sound was amazing.

During our times there we saw 3 Ross's geese mixed in with this huge
flock. There were many "blue phase" and juveniles but there was no
doubt about the Ross's. We go every year because they always come to
this place. We met the official "bird count" people and they estimated
the flock at 18,000.
