[va-bird] IMPORTANT MESSAGE

I have received permission to post this special message along with urgent
request that you please check you computer for possible virus.

Dear fellow listserv members,

Several individuals, myself included, have noted a substantial increase in
number of virus messages in recent days. These messages most often times
contain garbage and appear to be addressed from individuals you
know. Without going into details, this is, in most instances, the virus
that has invaded someone's list of email addresses and is now sending out
garbage messages to those email addresses stored on the infected computer.

Today a message was sent to a fellow listserv member that was addressed
from me although I had not sent them a message. In talking with our
computer tech, we're in agreement someone out there (quite possibly more
than one) has an infected computer and the email list stored on their C
drive has been invaded by a virus that has now captured that list and is
generating virus infected messages. The computer tech also said it's
possible the virus is sending to the listserv addresses. This happens
"behind the scenes" so individual with infected computer may not notice a
problem.

Unfortunately there are quite a few individuals who still do not utilize
care in opening attachments and worse yet, do not have updated virus
protection software.

For those of you with virus scanning software, could you make sure you have
updated virus definitions following individual program instructions and run
a scan for possible virus.

For those of you who do not have virus protection software, PLEASE do
yourself and others a big favor and purchase a good virus protection
software program. I personally use Norton Antivirus on both home and
office computers. (I am in no way affiliated with Symantec Norton.)

Thanks and watch out for those attachments!

P.S. Responses should be directed to bt8x@xxxxxxxxxxxx and not reply back
to listserv.
