[va-bird] Common Eiders and Harlequin Duck

Four Common Eiders (two each on islands 1 and 3) and one hen Harlequin Duck
(on island 2) were present this midmorning. None of these Common Eiders had
been in the area before today, or at least none at the CBBT; the female on
island 1 previously was duskier than the birds out there now. More male
Long-tailed Ducks were around than have been present (but the total of 10 is
still low), and more Bufflehead (18) than normal. Two subadult male
White-winged Scoters were at island 1 as well. Few gulls were present, among
them only 2 Lesser Black-backed, 20 Laughing, and 2 Bonaparte's. Beautiful
weather. Wilson's Snipe must have had a flight lately, as a result of foul
weather to the north; each puddle in the farm fields south of Cape Charles
had one this morning. Quite a few Red-tailed Hawks and vultures moving
south, with a few Red-shouldereds mixed in.
