[va-bird] It's an Ill Wind . . .

VA Birders,
It's an ill wind (or in this case a snowstorm) that blow's nobody any
good, as the saying goes. This afternoon, when I was out shoveling snow, I
happened to look up and see a flock of birds flying over. There were about a
dozen of them, they were in a "V" formation, and I could see that they were
all white with long necks sticking out. Even tho they were quite high and I
didn't have my binoculars handy or here them--I believe they were Tundra
Swans--a new Yard Bird!
Speaking of wind, and weather, Bob Ryan's 2003 "Almanac And Guide for the
Weatherwise" is now available at Giant Stores. It contains daily information
on high and low tides on the Potomac, times for sunrise and sunset, as well
as weather trivia. It is especially useful for birders here in Northern
Virginia.
