VA-birders....
Anyone out on the CBBT islands this winter should be alert for color
banded Great Black-backed Gulls. Please report any that you see.

Subject: color banded Great Black-backed Gulls
Hi there,
The Canadian Wildlife Service (CWS) has banded several Great Black-
backed Gulls (adults & chicks) at nesting colonies in the Great Lakes.
If you
should see a color marked gull please note as much information as
possible:
* Color Band (& leg that it is on)
* Numbers & Letters on color band (including the color of the text)
* Location of Sighting
* Date of Sighting
* & any other pertinent details
Please let me know if you are just able to obtain part of the information
listed above since we value any data.
Researchers at universities and CWS in eastern Canada have also used
color bands to mark Great Black-backed Gulls, if you send me information
on a bird that is not from the Great Lakes I will forward it to them for
their
records.
Thanks in advance for any information.
