Howdy all,
After trying to get in some banding yesterday, the rains finally made me call
it quits for the day after only a few hours. We only managed four birds.
Today was much better. Would have been a better day, but the winds were a
problem.
All in all, we banded 118 birds bringing our season total to an even 8,300
birds.
Some of the highlights today include, FOX SPARROW, AMERICAN WOODCOCK, and a
late BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER. We also had a large push of both KINGLETS
today as well. HERMIT THRUSH numbers again jumped up and of course,
YELLOW-RUMPS
are still around.
We also caught our first adult SHARP-SHINNED HAWK today as well.
I am hoping the wind lays down some tonight and that tomorrow is another good
day!
Here are the totals for...
11/8:
Golden-crowned Kinglet 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 1
Song Sparrow 1
Gray Catbird 1
TOTAL --------------------------- 4
11/9:
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 11
Golden-crowned Kinglet 28
Brown Creeper 1
Winter Wren 2
Eastern Phoebe 1
Carolina Chickadee 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 44
Chipping Sparrow 1
White-throated Sparrow 5
Song Sparrow 1
Fox Sparrow 1
Eastern Towhee 1
Hermit Thrush 14
American Robin 2
Blue Jay 1
Northern Cardinal 1
American Woodcock 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk 1
TOTAL ------------------------------ 118
