Seven souls showed for the Sunday stroll thru Dyke Marsh, Alexandria, this
a.m. Cool temps, but not frosty, moderating nicely as the sun came out. Not
much
action, species-wise, but there must have been about two tons of Robins. They
seemed to be feasting mostly on the berries of Poison Ivy, maybe the frost
Friday nite ripened them to perfection.
A fair number of Coots (150) were working in and around the picnic area, so
maybe some of the SAV has grown back. We had 6 PB Grebes as well, and except
for Mallards, one DC Corm and our C. Gooses - that did it for the watery type
birds.
Two adult Bald Eagles drifted over, heading south, and we picked up one RT
Hawk and three RS Hawks in the raptor category. Eight RC Kings were scattered
about, and a few YR Warblers - one Foresters Tern drifted over the last
boardwalk platform just as we were heading home. The list follows...Rich Rieger
