Hello all,

There was a hummingbird early this morning at Daingerfield Island in
Alexandria. I believe it was a Ruby-throated, but I only got a very brief
glimpse as it zipped away. I heard it giving its 3-4 syllable sharp tic tic
tic calls, which I believe I have heard when males do their looping displays.
I admit I am not 100% up-to-speed on hummer vocalizations. November 1st is I
believe the latest I have seen a RT, especially away from feeders.

There was also a juvenile NORTHERN HARRIER heading south that coursed low
over the treetops, which probably had just visited National Airport.

  Jay Keller,
  Arlington
