[va-bird] Cape Charles birds

The White-winged Dove at 9 Randolph Avenue came to feed in the side yard
between about 1350 and 1440 today, seen by Tom Saunders and others in this
midday/afternoon window that seems to be the best time to locate this bird.
All are
welcome. Only 2 birders have missed this bird (and they came just before
dark, unfortunately!). We'll try to keep it well fed for the Christmas Bird
Count season!

The Allen's/Rufous Hummingbird and both Ruby-throated Hummingbirds also
continue at the house. A resident of the Kiptopeke area still has 1-2 hummers
(one apparently an adult male Ruby-throated, the other not yet identified), and
the State Park had one Rufous/Allen's and one female-type Ruby-throated this
morning, according to Sam Stuart. (Jethro Runco will announce an even more
remarkable bird later today!)

Cape May now has its Cave Swallows - a conservative 54 were counted as of
lunch time, along with 30 Barns, 2 Banks, and 5+ Northern Rough-wingeds.
(Kiptopeke has just a small handful of Tree Swallows still around today.) Cape
May's
2 frigatebirds crossed the bay to Delaware (a NJ phone call to First State
birders came in time for them to see both a male and a female frigatebird
there); Cape May also has a Franklin's Gull. Plenty of exciting birds still
to our
north for the late-fall season.
