[va-bird] Kiptopeke banding 4 Nov: Nice day, but few birds

Howdy all,
It was a super nice day to be out and about, but not the greatest for
catching birds. The wind was a little strong this morning but calmed as the day
got
older. We only banded 52 birds for the day with nothing really exciting. We are
still seeing BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLERS move through the area (we banded
one today). It was mainly sparrows and YELLOW-RUMPS today, with a few HERMIT
THRUSHES mixed in.
Here are the days totals 4 Nov.
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 3
Black-throated Blue Warbler 1
Western Palm Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 20
Hermit Thrush 7
Gray Catbird 1
Northern Cardinal 1
Field Sparrow 2
Chipping Sparrow 1
Savannah Sparrow 2
Swamp Sparrow 4
Song Sparrow 7
White-throated Sparrow 2
TOTAL ------------------------------ 52
This weekend looks to be very nice weather wise but I will assume bird
numbers will remain low because of it. Maybe we will catch a rare bird for the
"rarities roundup" this weekend!
Black-throated Gray Warbler perhaps!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
