[va-bird] Siskins near Middleburg

Saturday morning, I purchased fresh niger seed and had a feeder out and
filled by 2 PM. At 3PM, there were 2 siskins at the feeder. By 5 PM, 5
siskins were at the feeder and a small flock of goldfinches and juncos
foraged on and below the seedheads of perennials nearby. Sunday
afternoon at 3:30 PM, there were 7 siskins at the feeder.

Robin and waxwing numbers have swelled appreciably over the past week.
Along Rt 790 a mile north of our house in St. Louis, VA, both
white-throated and white-crowned sparrows were singing in Sunday
afternoon's warmth. The white-crowneds were in exactly the same spot I
find them
every year from November through mid-April
