[va-bird] Hummingbird Sighting

This morning about 8 a.m, while taking photographs in our frosty Springfield
backyard, I startled a hummingbird which had apparently been roosting in the
protection of the garden shed. It flew (more slowly than usual) into a nearby
spicebush. I could not see it well enough to make a positive ID. Wanting to
document our little visitor with a photograph, I moved to get a clearer view,
but the hummer promptly flew away.
Unfortunately, most of our nectar plants have been killed by the cold and
frosts, but I have hung a hummingbird feeder on the deck. I'm eagerly
watching for its return ...
