This morning at Sky Meadows SP (Fauquier Co) I observed a single Am. Tree
Sparrow, my 1st of the season, Savannah Sparrows and numerous other more common
sparrows in the meadow behind the stables & the ranger's residence on the east
side of RT. 17. There was also an immature No. Harrier & a Cooper's Hawk
harassing it flying over the fields northeast of the parking lot & 7 (2 male &
5 female) Buffleheads on the pond on the other side of Rt. 17 as well as a male
Am. Kestrel & a Red-tailed Hawk hunting in the vicinity.
On the way home, a few miles north east of Sky Meadows but in Loudoun Co, there
was another (?) immature No. Harrier as well as another group of Buffleheads on
a farm pond.
