Hello Va-Birders!

And many thanks to all who responded to my inquiry about the
"Greater white-fronted/Graylag" geese on the Kingstowne Lake.

Armed with all the input from you guys, I went back to the Lake
today to check them out. As I approached the lake, the pair was swiming
on the other side with some Canadas, but as soon as they saw me, they
began vigorously swiming toward me and ended up standing on the shore
right in front of me! Therefore, I was able to see the pink/orange
orbital ring on each and the baggy tummies that each sported, both
evidence of a domestic-type goose, according to the "experts". These
geese were remarkably color-coordinated in that the one with the orange
bill also had orange legs and orbital ring and the one with the pink beak
also had legs and orbital ring to match.

So, unless I hear from an even more learned goose maven, I will
declare them to be Greylags and be done with it.

                                                                Edna
Aaron

Alexandria
