Sunny day, no clouds (not even contrails!) and very light variable winds. We
stood the watch from 9:00 to 4:00. At one point Jen
and I felt quite warm and she provided shadow in the form of huge golf
umbrellas.
A sight to behold! Slouched down in our now-notorious folding chairs as if
they
were chaises, we must have looked like your atypical beach bunnies! Birds
were
not too bad, much better than the slow start promised, and fortunately they
lowered themselves, so to speak, from the ridiculous altitudes of the early
hours::
Harrier - 3
Sharpy -13
Coopers- 3
RS - 6
RT - 19
UR - TOTAL - 48
Ralph Wall came in the noon hour, bringing a couple of much needed birds.
Other visitors included Newman and Betty Haas from MD, and John Worth,
a tourist.
Not much in the way of non-raptors either, though we had goodly numbers of
both vultures, particularly late in the afternoon. The morning brough some
Blue
Jays, but not enormous numbers. A few flocks of "dicky birds" passed by,
including robins and probable Cedar Waxwings.
