Common Ravens and Red-headed Woodpeckers, two of the birds that make a
trip to Sky Meadows from Alexandria worth the drive, were easily seen
and heard today. One raven almost caused me to jump off the trail when
it gave its croaking call as it flew up behind me.

Other highlights were all the woodpeckers, but Pileated, and my first
two Brown Creepers of the season. I was also pleased that a Lincoln's
Sparrow posed for a photograph. The park's bird list indicates its
presence as rare, and then only in the spring.
