Greetings,
Considering I got a late start today, I saw some nice birds along the Stone
Bridge Trail. The highlights were: BLUE-HEADED VIREO (my latest ever) and
VESPER SPARROW. I watched the Vesper for about 15 minutes as it foraged along
the trail by the Van Pelt House Site. Other goodies included: Yellow-bellied
Sapsucker (2), Common Raven (1 or 2 seen throughout the morning), Brown
Creeper (2), GC Kinglet (10), RC Kinglet (19), Hermit Thrush (7), Gray
Catbird, Chipping Sparrow (38), Fox Sparrow (2), and DE Junco (45).
I spent an hour just around the Stone Bridge sorting through the abundant Am.
Robins, Cedar Waxwings, Yellow-rumped Warblers, Chipping Sparrows, WT
Sparrows, and DE Juncos foraging and swirling along the banks on the north
side of Bull Run. Quite chaotic!
************
Fourteen Hooded Mergansers now at Bull Run Plaza pond.
