Birded with Jerry Uhlman and Darleen Jarry - started at Lynnhaven Inlet
looking for the White Pelican at 9am - no Pelican, but did run into Ron
Staley who birded the Tunnel islands with us. we stopped again at 4:30 and
had lots of Brown Pelicans but no Whitey. The Tunnel islands were totally
surrounded by fishing boats which basically eliminated any ducks around the
rocks, but we did have several groups of Surf Scoters flying by, and on #3 we
had sparrows: Song, White-throated, Swamp,. Savannah, and Chipping (which we
tried to make into a Clay-colored, but failed) plus Juncos. #4 had a Hermit
Thrush and on our return a Winter Wren.

Most noteworthy was at least 110 White Ibis ( we actually counted them) most
of which were adults, on the E. side of Rt.13 just N. of the road into
Fisherman's Island. The tide was very low and they were feeding in the
shallows. By far this was the most Ibi I have ever seen in VA at one time,
and so many adults was really unusual.

At the entrance to Kiptopeke was had, in one group, about 10 Palm Warblers,
and at the Hawk Watch Zack forgot to mention the immature Golden Eagle, and,
to our surprise, at ESNWR we had 2 juvenile Broad-wings soaring together.

A very nice day of birding
