[va-bird] Mason Neck SP: Blk-th. blue warbler, Ruby-cr. Kinglet

Birders,
Two stalwart birders joined me yesterday for a cool, breezy bird walk here
at Mason Neck State Park. We couldn't linger as much as desired due to a
late start, so our total sightings were fewer than they might have been.
Nonetheless we enjoyed a couple roving groups of warblers along the Bay View
Trail. Most numerous were the BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLERS; we also had
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET, PALM WARBLER, and YELLOW-RUMPED WARBLER. Despite my
prediction that BALD EAGLES often stay close to their roost on cloudy,
drizzly days, we still saw two adults and one sub-adult. A species list
follows.
Join us next Saturday for the weekly bird walk at Mason Neck State Park. We
meet at the Visitor Center for a 9am start, take the Bay View Trail, and
conclude in the picnic area at 11am. No reservations are required. Please
address any questions to me at the contact address below. Also please note
that the October 21 walk may be canceled due to the Harvest Festival
scheduled in the park for that day; stay tuned for confirmation.
