Howdy all,
The first two days of October were a bit opposites but they turned out ok.
The morning of the first was full of popcorn showers and drizzle. So it was a
rough morning and we finally called it quits about 9:30am when the rains set
in.
We ended up banding 20 birds during that short time, which was not bad
considering the weather.
The 2nd was much better after a little north winds and we ended up banding
106 birds. We caught 23 species and had a good mix of warblers. Seems the GRAY
CATBIRDS are going to have another big year here.
Here are the totals for 10/1:
American Redstart 1
Magnolia Warbler 2
Northern Parula 1
Common Yellowthroat 2
Black-thr. Blue Warbler 2
Ovenbird 1
Eastern Phoebe 1
House Wren 1
White-eyed Vireo 1
Veery 2
Wood Thrush 1
Gray Catbird 5
TOTAL ------------------------------ 20
Totals for 10/2:
Chestnut-sided Warbler 1
Northern Parula 1
American Redstart 8
Magnolia Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 9
Blackpoll Warbler 2
Black-throated Blue Warbler 3
Black-and-white Warbler 2
Yellow-rumped Warbler 3
Ovenbird 3
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
House Wren 3
Eastern Phoebe 1
White-eyed Vireo 1
Red-eyed Vireo 4
Indigo Bunting 9
Swamp Sparrow 1 first of the season
Song Sparrow 1
Veery 3
Gray-cheeked Thrush 5
Swainson's Thrush 3
Gray Catbird 39
Cooper's Hawk 1
TOTAL -------------------------------------- 106
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
