Subject: fall birds in Loudoun County

I've finally had some time to get out and explore the birds in my local area
the last couple days. On Monday, I saw a Red-Breasted Nuthatch in my yard,
which I haven't seen here in the last 2 winters. I also saw the first
Golden-Crowned Kinglet of the season, and a Swainson's Thrush. Tuesday, I
took a long walk, and saw many birds but few migrants. I saw all of the
woodpeckers but Y-B Sapsucker, including 4 Red-Headed at one of their
traditional colonies. Also a female Black-Throated Blue Warbler, a
Black-Throated Green, 2 Palm Warblers, a few Yellow-Rumps, and several
Ruby-Crowned Kinglets. Today's shorter walk yielded fewer birds because of
the drizzle that started, but I was treated to 7 Wild Turkeys foraging along
my usual route, and my first White-Throated Sparrow of the season.
