[va-bird] Three Kings of Occident are (at Kiptopeke)

The birding festival yesterday began with the discovery of three Western
Kingbirds on the wires at the intersection of Kiptopeke Drive and Arlington
Road
(the entrance to Kiptopeke State Park) by Sam Stuart. The birds were still
present this morning through at least 10:00 a.m., actively catching insects
along the roadsides. It has been some years since three Western Kings were
seen
together on the lower Shore.
Also along Arlington Road to the north are large flocks of Tree Swallows that
contain a few Barn and at least one Petrochelidon (Cliff/Cave) swallow this
morning; all are also actively feasting on insects here, often giving good
views as they fly by at waist height.
An Orange-crowned Warbler was on the CBBT (#3) on Thursday, found by Hal
Wierenga and Lynn Davidson, who also located the Clay-colored Sparrow here on
the
last cold front. Rumor has it another front will pass through some time in
the next 24 hours.
