I am working to assemble bird records for the western area of Highland County. 
I need observation 
records for raptors and neotropical migrants for the ridges and valleys to the 
west of, and 
including, Jack Mountain.

My purpose for assembling this information concerns avian impacts of wind 
turbine construction. 
There are two proposed projects of concern. One involves about twenty 400-foot 
turbines on Allegheny 
Mountain in the Laurel Fork watershed. The other involves 112 turbines north of 
the county line on 
Jack Mountain in West Virginia.

I need the bird data for submission to the US Fish and Wildlife Service and to 
the Highland Board of 
Supervisors. The supervisors have scheduled a public hearing on the Allegheny 
Mountain project for 
the evening of October 21st. Any data that can be provided by va-bird list 
participants will be 
appreciated.
