Fellow Birders,
Yesterday, Thursday, as I was doing some work around my yard pond I heard
slight sound and looked up to find myself eye to eye with a Red-breasted
Nuthatch only 10 feet away. The bird was sitting on the trunk of a White Birch
tree. I froze in place, and after about 15 seconds the bird flew down to the
water's edge and began to drink, while it kept an eye on me. It then flew into
the woods at the edge of the yard.
Maybe I'll be lucky enough to have this bird visit my feeders during the winter.
Enjoy the birds,
Roger Mayhorn
