A juv. Black-billed Cuckoo was in Crape Myrtle along Hermitage Road in Cape
Charles this morning, part of a weak reverse-migration morning. Such late
juv. birds are detected occasionally into early November, when they are thought
to be ill or misoriented individuals. Sunset Beach had a much more 'boreal'
flavor this morning (0715-0755), with many expected short-distance migrants
putting in appearances. The list is below.

Red-bellied Woodpecker 6 (migrants)
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker 5
Northern Flicker 53
Blue Jay 12 (none yesterday!)
Eastern Phoebe 2
Eastern Bluebird 1
Hermit Thrush 1
Swainson's Thrush 1
Winter Wren 1
House Wren 1
Rose-breasted Grosbeak 1
Gray Catbird 15
Brown Thrasher 5
Red-eyed Vireo 6
Black-and-white Warbler 1
Northern Parula 17
Magnolia Warbler 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler 14
Blackpoll Warbler 10
Bay-breasted Warbler 1
Yellow-rumped Warbler 90+
Palm Warbler 20+ (one Yellow)
American Redstart 2
Common Yellowthroat 15
unidentifed warbler 80+ (high overhead! probably Yellow-rumpeds, Palms, some
parulas)
