[va-bird] Peregrine Falcon & G. H. Owl in Franklin County

I was treated this morning to the sight of a Great Horned Owl silhouetted by
the brightening eastern sky, about 6:30. It was perched in a large poplar snag
in our big hayfield.
The second excellent raptor sighting today was an immature Red-shouldered Hawk
which was perching on hay bales and hunting around the edges of the same
hayfield.
And finally about 6 pm a Peregrine Falcon flew across the monastery roof, and
then doubled back, giving an excellent view of the tiniest details; it couldn't
have been more than 100 ft. from my binoculars.
I saw the Bobolink again yesterday, but not today, so it may have continued its
southern journey.
