Gentle Readers,

Mary Floyd and Harry Glasgow led the Monday Morning Birdwalk at Huntley Meadows 
Park today, October 4, 2004; it was a partly cloudy day with calm winds and 
cool temperatures.  17 Birders saw 59 species of birds; those birds observed 
included the Red-headed Woodpecker, Black-throated Green, Black-throated Blue, 
Yellow-rumped, Palm, Blackpoll, and Black-and-white  Warblers.   The Northern 
Parula and the Common Yellowthroat also were present.  It was an uncommonly 
fine day for birding.

Huntley Meadows Park can be reached from the Beltway by driving south on US 
Route 1 approximately three miles to Lockheed Boulevard.  Turn right on 
Lockheed Boulevard and proceed to the intersection of Lockheed and Harrison 
Lane.  The Park entrance is on the left.  

The regularly scheduled Monday Morning Birdwalk is open to all; the group meets 
at 0700 in the Visitor's Center Parking Lot.
