[va-bird] some Fall arrivals in Franklin County
- From: "Syon Abbey" <syonabbey@xxxxxxxx>
- To: "VA-Bird" <va-bird@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>
- Date: Sat, 2 Oct 2004 18:39:35 -0400
I saw this morning my first Sapsucker, Palm Warblers, and Junco of the season.
An immature Red-headed Woodpecker flying over the abbey was a real treat as
well. A Harrier spent a few minutes over one of our hayfields, and there were a
pair of Ravens who perched several times today on the hay bales.
The woods are really full of Swainson's Thrushes and Waxwings now, as well as a
few warblers and Rose-br. Grosbeaks. It was nice to see an adult male
Black-thr. Blue Warbler as well as an adult male Hooded Warbler, since any day
these may be the last for some months.
