[va-bird] Dyke Marsh report for 12 October

Six birders showed up to participate in the weekly Dyke Marsh walk today. The
highlights were migrating warblers and sparrows. Pine Warblers must be pushing
through in big numbers. We had 7 today. Late migrants included 2
Black-throated Greens and a Magnolia. We also had 3 young White-crowned
Sparrows foraging with a flock of Song Sparrows. A lone migrant Field Sparrow
provided great views at the Dogleg. Finally, White-throated Sparrows were
present along Haul Road.
Ducks and raptors were virtually nonexistent, with a young Cooper's being the
only representative of the latter group. No House Sparrows! Maybe they all
got nailed with Isabel? Of course, we were denied access to the marina, so
that could account for it. The report for the records appears below.
