[va-bird] Eight species of Sparrow's in Augusta County

Hello all
This morning Pat & I did our usual pond checks thru out Augusta County . Fall
is looking up for winter migrants & we tallied a total of eight species of
Sparrow's . Also we got all of the woodpecker's except for the Redheaded .
Below is a list of what we found .
Smith's Pond
Great Blue Heron -- 1
Bald Eagle -- 2 ( 1 adult & 1 3rd yr .)
No. Harrier -- 1
Red tailed Hawk -- 1
American Golden -- Plover -- 6
Killdeer -- 29 +
Lesser Yellowlegs -- 1
Wilson's Snipe -- 2
Thru out Augusta County Most of the Sparrow's were in the Swoope area .
Red --bellied Woodpecker -- 5
Yellow -- bellied Sapsucker -- 1
Downy -- 3
Hairy -- 1
No.Flicker -- 4
Pileated -- 4
Ruby -- crowned Kinglet -- 1
Gray Catbird -- 3
Cape May Warbler -- 1
Yellow -- rumped Warbler -- 2
Pine -- 1
Palm -- 13
Ovenbird -- 1
Common Yellowthroat -- 5
Towhee -- 1
Chipping Sparrow -- 7
Field -- 1
Vesper -- 1
Savannah --- 5
Song -- 27 +
Lincoln's -- 1 -- Rt. 705
Swamp --- 7 -- Rt. 705
White -- throated Sparrow -- 1

Pied -- billed Grebe -- 1
Bells Lane
Pied -- billed Grebe -- 3
Great Blue Heron -- 1
Quillen's
Pied -- billed Grebe -- 3

Green Heron -- 1
Wood Duck -- 3
Black Duck -- 6
Spotted Sandpiper -- 1
Not a bad day for a few hours in the field . Happy Fall birding to all .
