[va-bird] Philadelphia vireo and Philip Kline's wedding report

Last Friday I had great looks at a Philly vireo in White Oaks Park. Haven't
had a chance to report it til now because I took a long weekend in Tuscon for
Philip's wedding. Best birds at the reception: curve-billed thrasher,
phainopepla, Gambell's quail, lesser goldfinch.
Jason Waanders and I went to Madera Canyon on Sunday. Best birds:
zone-tailed hawk, common poorwill, red-naped sapsucker, painted redstart,
broad-billed
and calliope hummers, bridled titmouse, Mexican jay, and various of the more
common western vireos, warblers, and flycatchers, many of which were new to me.
On Monday, we dragged Philip away from his new bride and went to Patagonia,
where our best birds were rose-throated becard (which we nicknamed Jean-Luc),
gray hawk, black-tailed gnatcatcher, and dusky-capped flycatcher. One of the
best moments was watching about a dozen lesser nighthawks nabbing moths around
the illuminated palms by the pool at the resort we were staying at. As I have
travelled little out west, about 20 of the 75 species I saw over the weekend
were lifers. Mammals included collared peccaries, coyote, white-tailed deer
so small I thought I was in the Keys, and fox sp.
Oh, and Philip had a nice wedding, etc.
