[va-bird] The Big Sit!

Coastal Virginia Wildlife Observatory will once again participate in this
annual event, sponsored by the New Haven Connecticut Bird Club, which records
all
birds seen on one day by groups sitting or standing in one small spot. For
more details, go to the internet search, using "The Big Sit."
This year's event is next Sunday, October 12th and the CVWO location is again
at the observation platform at Kiptopeke State Park. There is no fee,
everyone is invited for all or part of the day. The more people on hand to
help, the
more we'll see.
The CVWO hawk counter, Jen Ottinger, will be there, as will some CVWO
volunteers, including Harry Armistead. In past years, we have been ranked in
the top
10 North American sites, out of more than a hundred and hope to do even better
this year!
