I visted Mez Wetlands to look for Lincoln's sparrow and other migrants.
I quickly found 4 Lincoln's in the pod immediately to the right of the
parking lot. This is a consistently good spot for these guys. Other
migrants included northern waterthrush, yellow-rumped warbler,
black-throated green warbler (pished to within a few feet),
rose-breasted grosbeak, chimney swift, white-eyed vireo, red-eyed vireo,
indigo bunting, swamp sparrow, and sharp-shinned hawk. When I got home,
there was a Lincoln's sparrow in my birdbath.
FYI, Leesylvania State Park is still closed.
