Howdy all,
The last two days have been ok banding wise, but nothing unexpected.
Yesterday we had a nice hit of AMERICAN REDSTARTS and we caught or first
BLACK-THROATED BLUE WARBLER of the season. VEERYS have started showing up along
with
RED-EYED VIREOS.
Been spending a fair amount of time chasing shorebirds after work the last
few days. I did find 34 AMERICAN GOLDEN-PLOVERS off Seaside Rd yesterday, with
7
BLACK-BELLIED PLOVERS. Then today, stopped off at the spot on Arlington and
found one BUFF-BREASTED SANDPIPER near the back of the field. But the overall
numbers of shorebirds here has dropped considerably. But it is raining here as
I type this so hopefully the field fills back up!
Here are the totals for 9/4:
American Redstart 36
Common Yellowthroat 1
Black-throated Blue Warbler 1
Black-&-white Warbler 2
Yellow Warbler 1
Northern Waterthrush 3
Traill's Flycatcher 3
Red-eyed Vireo 2
Veery 6
Northern Cardinal 1
TOTAL ---------------------------------- 56
Totals for 9/5:
American Redstart 5
Magnolia Warbler 1
Common Yellowthroat 2
Black-&-white Warbler 2
Yellow-breasted Chat 1
White-eyed Vireo 2
Red-eyed Vireo 4
Traill's Flycatcher 1
Veery 2
Northern Cardinal 3
Yellow-shafted Flickers 2
TOTAL----------------------------------- 25
I have not looked at the weather yet so I am not sure what the next few days
might hold. I am hoping its all good!
Hope to see you all at the banding station!
Cheers,
Jethro Runco
