I birded Occoquan NWR this morning for about 3 hours. There were quite a few
birds about, but no big groups of migrants. I saw about 70 species.
Highlights were Tennessee, blue-winged, magnolia, prothonotary and
black-and-white warblers, redstart, calling least bittern and king rail,
blue-winged teal, tons of swallows of 5 species (missing cliff, although I bet
they were around, too), orchard oriole (3), eastern kingbird (6), eastern
phoebe (5), brown thrasher (8), bobolink (2), willow flycatcher, gray catbird
(20, they were all over the place), veery, chimney swift (25), white-eyed vireo
(2), and bald eagle (about 10 adults and several immatures).
