I stopped in at Henricus this morning while out running errands, hoping
there might be some goodies left over from Ernesto. Nothing unusual in the
way
of species, what was unusual was the large number (16) of GREAT EGRETS in the
freshwater swamp. It's not unusual to see one or two, but I can't recall ever
seeing so many there. Also notable were a YELLOW-BILLED CUCKOO at eye level
and about 10 feet away from the second observation deck, and a CHIPPING
SPARROW that was so engaged in catching and eating a moth on the ground that
it
let me approach within 6 feet.
