Hello, birders.
Among other birds at Shenandoah today were an early
RUBY-CROWNED KINGLET at the summit of Stony Man
Mountain and a heard RED-BREASTED NUTHATCH along the
Whiteoak Canyon Trail just east of the intersection of
the Limberlost Trail. I couldn't find the nuthatch
but I did get to see the kinglet. After hardly
believing my ears I pished and in came the bird to
investigate along with other small songbirds. The
nuthatch I heard later on.
A friend of mine said she saw 1, maybe 2 Ruby-crowned
Kinglets at Mason Neck SP on Saturday. She gave a
fairly good description of the one bird that she saw
well.
