Today I had a good look at a Northern Waterthrush at the edge of a small pond
in the woods near Mustoe in Highland County. It had a distinct yellowish
background color throughout its underparts.
The Northern Waterthrush is recorded as a rare summer resident and transient in
Highland County. The most recent previous record is a 1989 observation of two
adults and three fledged young near Locust Springs.
