All,
I spent about an hour at NY Monuments in Manassas Battlefield (Prince
William County) this morning. Despite the overcast conditions there
were a lot of birds. Identification was a challenge in the muted light
however. Warblers included Black and White, Magnolia, Redstart, Common
Yellowthroat, Chestnut-sided. The best bird was a Philadelphia Vireo
(bird # 237 in Prince William County for me) hanging with several
Red-eyed Vireos. There was also a White-eyed Vireo singing non-stop.
Others - many Scarlet Tanagers, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, House Wren,
and many flycatchers. I didn't try very hard to sort them out since the
light was so bad.
Here's hoping Ivan clears out quickly.
