[va-bird] Evening Birding in Glencarlyn, Arlington

Birding wasn't planned, but as we walked in our neighborhood we heard
outstanding Screech Owl calling in the "Meadow" area of Glencarlyn Park/Long
Banch
Nature Center on S 5th St east of Carlin Springs Road at 7:45 PM. The bird
then moved south closer to the LBNC building and I thought I could just hear
another answering. Then, closer to 7:55 PM, I saw at least 5 Common Nighthawks
circling in the sky over the LBNC woods around the east end of S 3rd and 4th
Streets. There probably were more but hard to see in the failing light. No
buzzing this time at all. Plus the bats were out too at lower heights. Fun
evening for our relatively urban setting here. Cheers,

    Steve
    Arlington
