Watchsite- Van Dyck Park, Fairfax City,VA- SW of Washington, DC and
Nocturnal feeding site at Tyson's Corner, Fairfax Co, VA
After the large flight of Common Nighthawks on Friday 8-29 things
settled down the next 3 evenings- 155 on 8-30,
34 on 8-31 and only 8 on Labor Day before another storm hit. We are caught
in a stagnant weather patttern now with the potential for rain every
afternoon. I think there is one more large nighthawk flight to come once a
cold front passes through.
At the nocturnal feeding area I had 30-35 birds on 8-31 and 40-50 on
9-01.
