[va-bird] Leesylvania SP, Pr Wm Co, 9/1/03

VA BIRDers,
A bit slow at Leesylvania SP today but Marc Ribaudo, Kim Peakcock and I did 
chance upon a couple of Black-billed Cuckoos in the Lee ruins area.  Another 
good observation was Purple Martin, a species hit especially hard by the late 
freeze this past spring in the mid-Atlantic region - and numbers I have 
observed 
this fall at various No. VA locations during migration have not been large.  
But these observations may be biased as Leesylvania SP is one of my August 
stops and, in general, species numbers and diversity have seemed thin at this 
location for the last month.

Afterwards I visited the Bristow Rd area south of Manassas Airport 
(directions previously given) and noted at least one Am. Golden Plover.  
Distance and 
tough lighting conditions made ID of the other shorebirds (save Killdeer) 
problematic.
