[va-bird] Bald eagles over Rocky Knob

With Tad Finnell's report of bald eagles at Harvey's Knob in mind, a note
from today at the Rocky Knob migration watch, mile 168 on the Blue Ridge
Parkway...
The press of work kept me from being there the whole day, but I did manage
to watch from 1:45 to 5:45.
I saw two bald eagles flying over Rocky Knob and Rock Castle Gorge, the
first time I've ever seen two in one day. Not a big deal to those who live
near large bodies of water or who watch at the famous hawk spots, but a
thrill for me.
Also a male northern harrier, two red-tails and a single broadwing.
Thought I would see more broadwings than anything else, but such was not to
be. Any day when bald eagles outnumber the broadwings is a heck of a day.
We usually post the Rocky Knob results on the NRV Birds list, which is for
birders in the New River Valley areas of West Virginia, Virginia and North
Carolina. Anybody in that area who wants to join can just send a blank
